This is know as the best scene from the movie.
Do you feel that the film set out to recreate the book faithfully, or did it aim to adapt the book?
I believe the film has recreated the book faithfully. The book is based on a true story so you the producers and writers couldn't adapt much of the book being that they were trying to tell the truthful version of the story. Some parts of the book have adapted and change such as Erin having three jobs (only happens in movie) and all the students names have changed for the movie.
Select two memorable or important scenes from the film. What made them particularly memorable or important?
The first memorable scene that I liked was when my favourite character Eva Benitez is sitting in the court room under oath and looks around the room, at the dead boy's girlfriend, and the people in her gang (race) and at the boy and boy's family who was accused of the murder. Eva has been told by her gang members that she has to lie and say that she saw the boy who was accused of the murder did the deed even though she knows that one of her gang member (Paco) was the one who killed the innocent boy. Sh'e sitting there in the court room, sweating and then stops, and says "Paco did it". From that moment you could tell Eva had changed and even though she was punished for being a traitor she knew she did the right thing.

The second most memorable moment from the movie was the scene famously known as "It's all about colour". I love the emotion that is shown in this scene. Nearly everybody is crying because they all understand the pain. The students say how they feel and explain how and why they hate white people. This scene i believe is important because it's when Erin realises that none of these students respect her and that she is going to had to make them feel comfortable in the classroom to be able to learn.

What are the main similarities/differences between these memorable scenes and those that you found memorable in the book?
In the book it doesn't include Erin's divorce and not much of her love life because the book is based on the stories of the students. Each of the students stories is nearly exactly the same as to the book probably because the writers were trying to keep the story true and pure, and the only difference is all of the students names e.g. Eva Benitez is the name of the Latina girl in the movie but in real life and in the book the Latina girl's name is Maria Reyes.
What approach do you think you might have taken if the task of filming the book had been your responsibility?
If I was given the role of making this magnificent book into a movie I would of concentrated on the emotions, so that the people who would watch the movie would feel and emotional connection and be able to understand the characters with more depth then just by their name and brief background story. I would of probably used real footage of the holocaust and of the gang fights so that it would be/feel more realistic being that the story is based on a true story.
